# North Cyprus Car Rental: Deposit & Insurance Guide
## How the deposit works
Most agencies place a **pre-authorisation** on your credit card at pick-up. KKTC Rental's standard deposit is:
- Economy / Compact: **£250**
- SUV / Estate: **£400**
- Premium / Luxury: **£700**
The amount is held — not charged — and released automatically within 7–14 days after you return the car undamaged with a full tank.
### Debit cards
We accept debit cards for the deposit if you select the **Zero Excess Plus** package (an extra £4/day). Otherwise a credit card in the main driver's name is required.
## Insurance tiers
| Tier | Excess | Daily price | Best for |
|------|--------|-------------|----------|
| Basic CDW | £700 | included | Experienced left-hand traffic drivers |
| Excess Reduction | £200 | +£3/day | Most family holidays |
| Zero Excess | £0 | +£6/day | First-time visitors, premium cars |
All tiers cover:
- Collision damage
- Theft
- Third-party liability up to £1,000,000
- Glass, tyres and undercarriage
Not covered (any tier):
- Driving under the influence
- Off-road driving
- Damage caused by unauthorised drivers
- Lost keys (replacement charged at cost)
## Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)
Optional £2/day. Covers driver and passengers for medical expenses up to £30,000 per person.
## What to do if there is an accident
1. **Do not move the vehicle** until police arrive (legal requirement).
2. Call **155** for police and **112** for ambulance if anyone is hurt.
3. Take photos of all vehicles, the scene and licence plates.
4. Get a copy of the police accident report ("kaza raporu").
5. Call our 24/7 line — we will send a replacement car within 90 minutes.
## Tips to protect your deposit
- Walk around the car at pick-up and photograph any existing scratches.
- Send the photos to yourself by email or WhatsApp (timestamped proof).
- Park away from supermarket trolleys and busy beach car parks.
- Never let an unlisted driver take the wheel — even for a short trip.
