Résumé rapide
Karpaz Peninsula one-day car itinerary: Kyrenia to Apostolos Andreas, Golden Beach and wild donkeys with an hour-by-hour plan.
Karpaz in One Day
The Karpaz Peninsula is the east tip of North Cyprus and one of the wildest, prettiest corners of the island. This itinerary covers a 280 km round trip from Kyrenia to Apostolos Andreas Monastery and back, with about 5 hours of effective driving.
08:00 — Depart Kyrenia
Leave Kyrenia via the northern coast road (Boğaz–Esentepe). Scenic, twisty, and traffic-free in the morning.
09:30 — İskele and Bafra
Short coffee stop in İskele. Bafra hosts large resorts; the coastline runs wide and flat here.
11:00 — Mehmetçik (fuel + groceries)
Top up the tank and grab water/snacks before entering Karpaz proper.
12:30 — Golden Beach
North Cyprus's most famous sandy beach. Lunch is available at beachfront tavernas; sea turtles nest here in summer.
14:30 — Apostolos Andreas Monastery
Historic Orthodox monastery at the peninsula's tip, fully restored and open to visitors.
16:00 — Wild Donkeys and Return
You will almost certainly spot Karpaz's wild donkeys on the return road.
20:00 — Back in Kyrenia
You'll be back in Kyrenia by 20:00.
